The Hosen Adult Day Center

The Center has seven groups, each of which is staffed with two support staff. Daily activities are based on individual and group programming. The purpose of the program is to help each individual according to his/her abilities and needs.

The participants receive rehabilitative treatment and supports comprising speech, occupational and physical therapy; music; physical education; and pre-vocational and vocational training. They also work on building skills for the activities of daily living in a model training apartment.


Adults over 21 years of age who live in Haifa and its environs who require support in most activities of daily living.

Referral Procedure:

Referrals are accepted from the Municipality of Haifa Department of Rehabilitation, Departments of Social Services in the Haifa region, and directly from parents of applicants. Prospective participants must be approved by the Hosen Day Center intake committee and the Department for the Person with Intellectual and Developmental Disability.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Hebrew, Arabic and Russian speaking adults are welcome to help in the following areas:

  1. working (under staff supervision) with individuals in rehabilitation activities during the day; and
  2. working within existing enrichment activities or initiating new enrichment programs during the afternoon hours in the areas of music, dance and the use of creative art and rehabilitation equipment.
