IE Supported Workers Employed in Marketplace, Producing Holiday Items

October 2016

L-r: Modeling the holiday apron; Bullshirt production; 424 Gourmet Salt being packaged

This year, Israel Elwyn's Haifa & Northern Israel Branch has been producing some exciting gifts for the holiday season.

One is a colorful apron featuring a sweet kugel recipe in five languages:  Hebrew, Arabic, English, Russian and Amharic.  (It's called 'sweet kugel' to differentiate it from the traditional 'kugel Yerushalmi,' which is made with a healthy handful of black pepper.)  The aprons are produced by IE support recipients and workers with disabilities of the "Bullshirt" promotional material manufacturer, which is located in IE's Beresin Occupational Training Center in Haifa.

Another traditional gift is a tray of goodies – chocolates, olive oil, wine, honey, condiments and seasoned salts. The wooden trays in which the treats are packaged are painted and decorated by service recipients at the Beresin Occupational Training Center, and the salts come from the Salt 424 (424m Below Sea Level) company, which has a packaging facility in the Occupational Training Center that is staffed by individuals with disabilities.

Interested?  These and other gifts may be purchased in Israel year round through the Beresin Occupational Training Center, tel. +972-4-862-8134, or Yossi Ovitz +972-52-602-4563 or
