IE's Kfar Yona OTC Bounds into Paratrooper Training

June 2016

L-r: Soldiers refold parachutes; OTC service recipients receive a tour in the belly of a plane

Eighteen service recipients along with staff from Israel Elwyn's Kfar Yona Regional Occupational Training Center (OTC) recently visited the Israel Defense Force's Paratrooper Training Center in Tel Aviv.  The visit included a lecture and film about the critical role and operations of the Paratrooper Training Center.

The OTC recipients watched with amazement as the paratroopers conducted trainings from jump towers that simulate jumps from a plane. The Israel Elwyn group also had an opportunity to visit the belly of a plane and get a feel for what the paratroopers experience when they fly and jump on a mission.

After posing for photographs with the soldiers and their trainers, the service recipients toured the parachute folding unit and admired how quickly and efficiently the soldiers work to refold used parachutes.

The visit ended with lunch in the base cafeteria and a quick opportunity for a photograph next to an F15.

Comments from the IE visitors to the Training Center included:
  • I enjoyed the visit and it was great to see the soldiers jumping from the jump towers.  This was the greatest of my experiences.
  • The trip was fun.  I saw soldiers jumping and then rolling on the ground.  I saw how the parachutes are folded into backpacks as if they had been ironed.  I had a great time.
  • It was fun to see the paratroopers training and to be photographed with the big plane.
