Israel Elwyn Receives $200k Grant from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation

The Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation has awarded Israel Elwyn a grant of $200,000, payable over two years, to renovate IE’s Occupational Training Center (OTC) in Ashkelon.   This generous support ensures that Israel Elwyn will be able to begin renovation of this Center and provide vital services to an expanded circle of adults with disabilities, who wish to acquire job skills for the competitive work force, earn a living, and attain greater inclusion in society.

Five years ago, the Ashkelon Municipality and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Services' Department for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities entrusted the operation of Ashkelon's Occupational Training Center to Israel Elwyn.  Today, the OTC, which is housed in a building owned by the city of Ashkelon, serves nearly 100 individuals with different levels of special needs, ranging from comprehensive support to supported employment.  At present there are 15 individuals who have already entered the competitive job market in supported employment, and another five are scheduled to start in the fall.

The generous support from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation over the years has enabled IE to pursue numerous vital projects that contribute considerably to the quality of life of individuals who so greatly need the services we provide.  The lives of thousands have been improved, with each individual able to overcome enormous challenges because of the services and support they received from Israel Elwyn.

We salute the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation for their ongoing support and their loyalty to Israel Elwyn over many years.
